D17 Status of Women

NEWS

Consider applying for the Provincial Status of Women Committee! link

What is Status of Women?

The Status of Women Committee addresses the unique needs of women OSSTF members. As women make up over 60% of OSSTF’s membership, our role is as relevant today as it was in the past.

The District 17 Status of Women Committee brings women’s concerns to the forefront. We hold workshops and run events that highlight women’s issues, build networks, and support efforts in the community that will possibly affect women’s lives. Some of the issues we have dealt with are pregnancy and parental benefits, Employment Insurance, alternative curriculum, violence against women, women and leadership, and financial planning for women, as well as raising women’s issues as they relate to negotiations.

How do I get involved with Status of Women?

If you wish to become involved volunteer to be the Status of Women Rep for your worksite or just come to the District Office on meeting nights posted under the Calendar section.
NEW MEMBERS ARE ALWAYS WELCOME!
